About
80 000 residential areas and 56 million flats have been built in Europe since 1950.
At the
moment more than 170 million people live in post war mass housing areas.
Housing
organisations need to refurbish their housing stock periodically and the demand
for sustainable refurbishment is high – from the European Commission, the member states and
the associated states.
Today
there is almost no integration of refurbishment strategies and sustainability and
insufficient tenant participation.
Many refurbishment processes only focus on
technical issues and initial costs.
SUREURO
has developed models
and systems that
provide housing organisations, interested parties; local authorities, town
planners, construction companies etc, great opportunities to perform refurbishment
processes within a normal time schedule and budget.
The SUREURO models
and systems offer users considerable environmental improvement and
energy savings.
The
SUREURO
results was presented to the public during the
6th
SUREURO
Conference in Kalmar, Sweden June 2004.
